The USS Manchester, an Independence-variant littoral combat ship, recently completed an 18-month deployment to the Indo-Pacific and returned to Naval Base San Diego. Capt. Douglas Meagher, commodore, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One, expressed pride in the achievements of the ship’s crews during their deployed operations.
The ship participated in several multinational exercises and conducted port visits to six partner and allied nations including Indonesia, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. While in Subic Bay, Philippines, Manchester provided ship tours to the Philippine Navy and a damage control demonstration. Additionally, sailors volunteered at the Child Protection and Development Center in Sriracha,Thailand.
