Luxembourg’s delegation to the 2023 Games of the Small States of Europe added ten pieces of silverware to its tally on Wednesday and is now in third place in the overall medal table.
The team earned three gold, two silver, and five bronze medals in a number of sports.
Luxembourg now has a total of six gold, eight silver, and thirteen bronze medals. Cyprus leads the table with 14 gold while host country Malta is in second place with twelve gold medals.

In 3×3 basketball, Luxembourg’s women’s team of Cathy Schmit, Nadia Mossong, Lisa Jablonowski, and Briget Yoerger won three out of three matches. This means that they will play the semifinal on Thursday. The men’s team won their first two matches. However, Victor Stein, Christophe Laures, Sam Ferreira and Scott Morton lost the third encounter against Andorra.
Luxembourg’s rugby women lost all three of their games on Wednesday while the men remain unbeaten in three encounters.
In table tennis, the Luxembourgish women’s team secured bronze after losing the semifinal against Monaco. The men managed to get a place in the final, but lost to Malta and thus won silver.
Sylvie Schmit came eighth in the final round of the pistol shooting competition. Lena Bidoli won gold for Luxembourg in the trap category. Lyndon Sosa also made the trap final, but did not take home any medal.
The men’s squash team won against Cyprus and lost to Lichtenstein in the group stage of the competition.
In tennis, Raphael Calzi, Alex Knaff, and Eleonora Molinaro all lost their individual encounters on Wednesday. Mare Weckerle won her match and is now in the semi-final of the competition. Calzi and Knaff lost against Malta in the men’s double.
Swimmer Remi Fabian won gold in the 100m backstroke race, Max Mannes took bronze. Sarah Rolko also won bronze in the 100m backstroke race. Pit Brandenburger won silver in the 400m freestyle race and Ralph Daleiden-Ciuferri bronze in the 100m butterfly race. The women’s team won bronze, the men’s team gold.
