JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee revealed the field hockey roster heading to Paris this summer for the 2024 Summer Olympics, as Hannah Pearce ’22 was among the 18 athletes selected to the Olympic roster. Pearce is the first Crimson in program history to qualify for the summer Olympics.
Pearce orchestrated an incredible career in Cambridge from 2017 to 2021. Across 72 starts, Pearce scored 25 goals, provided seven assists, and tallied 57 points. Her 25 career goals ranks 12th all-time in program history. During the 2021 season, Pearce captained the Crimson in an outstanding run to the NCAA Tournament semifinals. Across 19 starts, Pearce netted 14 goals, which ranks fourth in school history for goals in a single season. A 2021 NFHCA All-America First Team selection, Pearce garnered first team All-Ivy League recognition three times in her collegiate career.
A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Pearce is a regular for the South African national team, logging 41 appearances for the senior team.
Field Hockey competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics begins on Saturday, July 27th and ends on Friday, August 9th with the gold and bronze medal matches. South Africa will face Australia, Argentina, Great Britian, Spain, and the United States in Pool B.
