New Caledonia set for three technical courses

Patrick Jacquemet, Didier Chambaron and Paul Toohey will deliver courses that cover goalkeeping, grassroots and futsal development.
Chambaron, former national team head coach of ‘Les Cagous’, will deliver the FIFA Grassroots course with the aim of setting up the practical sessions on the field of play with a pedagogy to develop young players.
Chambaron’s colleague, Jacquemet, is no stranger to New Caledonia having visited the French Overseas Department in February 2013 to deliver a FIFA Goalkeeping course that attracted 20 participants.
The former professional goalkeeper is back in New Caledonia for an OFC Goalkeeping Level 1 course aimed at the goalkeeper coaches of ‘la grande terre’.
But the flavour of the month in New Caledonia is futsal after the national futsal side delivered an exciting performance at the OFC Futsal Championship Invitational held in Arène du Sud.
New Caledonia defeated New Zealand, Vanuatu and drew with Tahiti before losing to eventual winners Malaysia in a tournament that captured the imagination of locals.
OFC Futsal and Beach Development Officer Paul Toohey who was on hand to witness the action and potential will deliver an OFC Futsal Instructor course.
Futsal is growing in popularity worldwide and in Oceania New Caledonia has a unique opportunity to build on the success of last week’s efforts on the court.
Latest figures show New Caledonia has 1,500 registered futsal players and after impressing in the OFC Futsal Championship Invitational, the sky is the limit for further development and success in the indoor game.
