Barclays has expanded the remit of Gérald Mathieu and appointed him as the new head of private bank for Europe, Monaco and Switzerland.
Mathieu assumes the new role immediately, replacing Jean-Christophe Gerard.
Last month, Barclays Private Bank named Gerard as the new CEO.
Mathieu stated: “The pandemic has accelerated clients’ needs and expectations, highlighting the importance of being partnered with a quality private bank able to provide tailored solutions and specialised services across international booking platforms.”

Earlier, he headed Barclays Private Bank in Monaco.

Other people moves
Barclays made several changes to its private bank management team this year.
In July this year, Barclays Private Bank appointed Effie Datson as the global head of family office and Melanie Aimer as the global head of client experience.
This June, Barclays named Olivier Franceshelli as the head of private banking in Monaco.
At the same time, it appointed Alan Werlau as the head of investments for Barclays Bank Ireland.
