While labour immigration reached historically high levels recently, it has not matched previous peaks. The surge in 2022 was driven by increased â¤Russian applications†following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, along with pent-up demand released as Covid restrictions were†eased.

Proposed⣠law changes by the Petteri Orpo-led government have been criticized by organisations in Finland. These changes are part of broader reforms that are ​increasing uncertainty for ‌immigrants and could potentially impact international‌ specialists’ perceptions of working in Finland.
