October 26 (SeeNews) – Nidec Elesys RnD Europe Bulgaria, part of Japanese electric motor manufacturer Nidec Corporation, is investing some 4.83 million levs ($2.61 million/2.47 million euro) in research and development (R&D), the innovation ministry said on Thursday.
The company plans to put together an R&D team which will focus on electronic traction inverters, onboard and outboard chargers, converters and different motor drive applications, the ministry said in a press release.

The initiative is expected to create 70 jobs
In December, Nidec opened its first European R&D centre in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, investing $3.5 million (3.3 million euro) in the project. That same month, the company allocated over 1.5 million euro to software licence and hardware equipment in Bulgaria.
