Belgium and Sweden both scored five goals in their away legs of the UEFA Women’s Nations League play-offs.
League A/B play-off 1st legs
Bosnia & Herzegovina 0-5 Sweden
Serbia 1-1 Iceland
Hungary 1-5 Belgium
Croatia 0-3 Norway
Belgium had to overcome an early setback to win in Hungary, all but securing their A League status against B League runners-up. Lila Turanyi got the opener but Sari Kees and Tessa Wullaert scored in either half, Justine Vanhaevermaet also on target for the visitors.
Madelen Janogy’s first-half brace set top-tier Sweden on the road to a 5-0 victory away to Bosnia & Herzegovina, where Filippa Angeldahl and Pauline Hammarlund added one each and Jelena Gvozdearc conceded an own-goal.
Norway are also on course to keep their A League position, after Ada Hegerberg, Caroline Graham Hansen and Celin Bizet Ildushoy struck for a 3-0 win in Croatia.
Promotion-chasing Serbia had Dina Blagojevic sent off seven minutes from time in a draw with Iceland, Tijana Filipovic’s opener cancelled out by Hlin Eriksdottir before half time.
League B/C play-off 1st legs
Montenegro 0-2 Northern Ireland
Bulgaria 0-4 Ukraine
Latvia 0-3 Slovakia
Goals from Lauren Wade and Demi Vance gave Northern Ireland a 2-0 win in Montenegro, leaving them in a solid position to stay in the second tier.
Ukraine and Slovakia should also survive relegation, the former scored four times in Bulgaria, the latter gained a 3-0 advantage away to Latvia.
The second legs are all on Tuesday 27 February, apart from Sweden’s which is a day later.
