Kalinoŭski Regiment makes a move on Europe

The democratic forces are pushing for stronger ties with the European Union while also expanding their connections with official Washington. Representatives of Kalinoŭski Regiment have kicked off a tour across Western countries with the aim of building support for a forceful change of the regime and bolstering their influence within the democratic movement.

The democratic forces have called on EU countries and the USA to increase pressure on official Minsk following a series of searches and arrests involving former political prisoners and their relatives. In response, the United States has announced their intention to tighten sanctions and impose additional restrictions against Lukashenko’s regime.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland has advocated for a new package of sanctions against the Belarusian authorities and supported The National Anti-Crisis Management’s proposals for a human rights package of restrictions. This includes restrictions on the import of goods produced by political prisoners within the institutions of the Department of Execution of Punishments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

Additionally, Poland and the Baltic countries are proposing to align sectoral sanctions for Belarus with those imposed on Russia.

Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, has condemned the new wave of repressions in Belarus.

It’s doubtful that statements from Western capitals will significantly impact the regime’s repressive practices. Lukashenko shows no interest in restoring relations with the EU and the USA, and consequently, there is no inclination to ease the persecution of opponents.

The leader of democratic Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, addressed the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), proposing the development of a road map for the future democratic Belarus to join the Council of Europe. Currently, there is a permanent representation of the Belarusian Dems forces in PACE, formulating a two-year plan of joint actions with the Council of Europe.

The United Transitional Cabinet continues its campaign regarding the recognition of the passport of New Belarus. This is one of the most popular projects of the democratic forces, enjoying support among diasporas and political migrants.

The Coordiantion Council is persisting in its efforts to renew its membership. However, it fails to attract attention from society.

Kalinouski’s regiment is actively consolidating its political subjectivity. The leadership of the warriors has embarked on a tour of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany to strengthen ties and political influence within the diaspora. The Kalinouskites expect to establish direct contacts in the diaspora to secure resources, both human and financial.

In summary, The democratic forces are counting on the gradual deepening of relations with the EU, paralleling the development of a strategic dialogue with the USA.
