The IOC and the French Development Agency (AFD) are moving forward hand in hand. The two organizations signed a new cooperation agreement. Its objective: to strengthen the role of sport in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. In detail, the agreement provides for an initial investment of two million euros, financed equally by the two parties, to support sports projects for the prevention of juvenile delinquency in four Asian countries. At the same time, AFD is committed to investing an additional million euros in Africa, via the Sport, Education and Sustainable Livelihoods program. Deployed by the IOC and Laureus Sport for Good for a period of two years, it aims to promote the education and employability of young people through sport in 13 African countries. With the help, and above all the resources, of AFD, the number of funded associative projects will increase from 16 to 25. They will benefit 12.000 young Africans. Same impact on organizations benefiting from technical assistance, training and programs, which will increase from 30 to 45.
