This was a special moment for South Africa, as it was their first time making it to a World Cup Final in any format. Unfortunately, they lost by seven runs.
Even though they didn’t win, South African players are loved worldwide. After the match, Indian fans celebrating their team’s victory tried to cheer up the South African team. In a video going viral online, you can see the South African players and their families heading towards their bus, looking sad. As they walked, Indian fans surrounded them, chanting “We love you South Africa” to lift their spirits.

The South African team, led by Aiden Markram, was very close to winning. They needed just 26 runs from 24 balls to reach their target of 176 runs. Heinrich Klaasen had played an amazing innings, scoring 52 runs from just 26 balls. But after he got out in the 16th over, the team struggled and eventually lost the match.
