International Scientists Commend Yobe State as a Growing Hub of Science and Research in Africa
A group of international scientists from prestigious institutions recently visited Yobe state for a Summer School training program, and they were highly impressed with the state’s status as a burgeoning center for Science and Research in Nigeria and across Africa.
These scholars, hailing from countries such as the United States of America, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, South Africa, Algeria, Senegal, and Ghana, lauded Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State for his efforts in establishing and supporting the Biomedical Training and Research Centre at the State University in Damaturu.
According to Mahmoud Bukar Maina – Director of the research centre – this marked the third successful summer school training session since its establishment. The recent workshops covered essential topics like Artificial Intelligence, Malaria Research, and Brain Disease research. A noteworthy 450 medical doctors, scientists researchers ad academicians from across Africa attended these workshops where they were trained by experienced professors.
During their visit to Gashua - one of the most affected areas by kidney disease - Governor Buni urged them to deepen their research on identifying the cause of this disease which has been impacting parts of the state.
