Speaking at a workshop on “Declining investment in start-ups: are investors moving away from Africa?”, organized as part of the 2nd edition of Gitex Africa Morocco, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Laghzioui said that several investment funds are planning to invest in the African continent, and in Morocco in particular, in addition to local investment funds, which aspire to “meet today’s economic challenges, convinced of the continent’s potential and skills”.
The economic expert also noted that these funds are convinced of Morocco’s attractiveness thanks to the Kingdom’s good infrastructure, logistics and digital services and “UM6P’s pioneering role in research and development”.
In this regard, he highlighted the awareness of governmental and private players of the importance of facilitating investment procedures for start-ups, noting that Africa abounds in local skills.
Laghzioui went on to say that the 2nd edition of Gitex Africa Morocco reflects the Kingdom’s positioning as a hub of innovation in a number of vital sectors that are at the heart of the challenges facing not only Morocco, but also Africa and the world as a whole, noting that UM6P Ventures is working to strengthen Morocco’s position in the field of revolutionary technologies by promoting the results of R&D and advanced architecture.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Gitex Africa is attended by over 1,500 exhibitors representing more than 130 countries. The event aims to be a hub for exchanges on the latest technological developments, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, healthcare and cybersecurity.
